The cinema subscriber card for local cinemas and film clubs, in the Wallet
A local cinema knows its regulars, but the student on the till on a Sunday does not, and the cardboard subscriber card gives no clue whether it is this year’s. A cinema subscriber card in the Wallet shows the subscription and its end date, and one scan at the door of the screen confirms it.

What appears on a film lover’s card
The card takes the cinema’s name, logo and colours, then shows the subscriber’s name, a number, the subscription and the date it ends. You describe your own subscriptions, for example an Unlimited subscription at €25 a month, or a film club membership for the season. If a subscription is extended, the date on the phone moves by itself; if it is not, the card expires and the scan says so. At the door, the usher scans the QR code with a phone. There is no reader to install at the till.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| 10 sessions | €70 |
| Unlimited | €25 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Subscriber card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Local cinema · Film club · Previews.
Three real situations
Tuesday night film club
Film club members walk past the till, show the card and take a seat. The projectionist doubling as usher scans the few faces he does not know, and the discussion after the film is among members.
A preview with the director present
Previews fill fast. Create tickets for the date and send the link to subscribers first, then to the public. Each ticket has a QR code scanned at the door of screen 1.
Subscribers’ rate at the till
When the subscription gives a reduced price instead of free entry, the cashier checks the card, then issues the seat at the right price on your own till. The card proves the right; the till handles the sale.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Cinema” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Subscriber card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a two-screen cinema with 150 subscribers
Take a local cinema run by an association, with 90 unlimited subscribers and 60 film club members. Subscriptions are paid at the till or by standing order to the association, exactly as before. The manager sends subscribers the sign-up link by email and activates each card when the payment is in order. With 150 cards, the Essential plan at €19 excl. VAT per month is enough. Four previews a year, with about 80 tickets each, are scanned at the door.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Preview screening” or “Film club”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Can a ten-screening card be deducted at each scan?
No. MPass does not count sessions and deducts nothing when a card is scanned. It suits subscriptions with a period of validity, such as unlimited or seasonal ones. For a card of ten screenings, keep your stamp card or your till’s own system.
Does it replace our ticketing for regular screenings?
No. Seat sales and box office reporting belong in your cinema’s ticketing software. MPass adds the subscriber card and, if you wish, tickets with a QR code for special evenings such as previews, where registration matters more than the sale.
How does a monthly subscription show on the card?
The card shows an end date. For a subscription paid month by month, you extend the card as payments come in, and a card that is not extended expires on its date. Each change reaches the subscriber’s phone automatically.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
