Community space membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A community space is a café, a workshop, a few desks and a garden at once, run by people who are there on different days and do not all know each other. A community space membership card on the phone tells whoever is behind the bar that day who is a member, who is a resident, and whose contribution has lapsed.

Members who drop in, residents who stay
The card has the name and colours of the place, the person’s name, a number, the plan and its end date. Two plans are common, for example Member at €20 for those who take part in activities, and Resident at €120 for those who use a desk or a studio. Changing someone from member to resident, or extending a year, updates the card in their phone. Whoever is on duty can check a card by scanning its QR code with a phone. The card is a sign of belonging, not a key: opening hours and keys stay as they are.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €20 |
| Resident | €120 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Hybrid space · Events · Community.
Three real situations
The shared meal in the kitchen
The communal kitchen seats thirty. Share a ticket link at the start of the week; those who register get a QR code, and the cooks know how many portions to make. Members and neighbours register the same way.
Repair workshop on Saturday
The workshop is open to all, but tools are lent to members only. The volunteer at the bench looks at the card before handing over the soldering iron, without needing the association’s member file.
The general assembly
Your statutes say who may vote; the card shows who is up to date. Scanning cards at the door of the meeting gives the chair a clear picture of the current members in the room before the first vote.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Community space” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a shared space with 150 members and 12 residents
Take a former school turned into a shared space, with 150 members and 12 residents who rent a studio. Membership is taken at the bar: the volunteer shares the sign-up link, the person fills it in on their phone, pays the €20 in cash, and the card is activated. Residents pay their contribution by transfer. With 162 cards, the association is on Essential at €19 excl. VAT per month. The monthly shared meal and the repair workshop each use a ticket link.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Shared meal” or “Repair workshop”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing. By event type: all events.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Our volunteers change every day. How do they check a card?
Checking is done by scanning the QR code with a smartphone, so no special equipment is needed at the bar or the workshop. Even without scanning, the card shows the name, the plan and the end date on screen, which is often enough for a volunteer to see that someone is a member.
Can people pay what they can for membership?
MPass does not collect the money, so your pricing is entirely yours: fixed, sliding scale or free. The amount attached to a plan is only an indication. You could create several plans to reflect different contributions, or keep one plan and settle the amount at the bar.
Does MPass manage the rooms that residents and groups use?
No. Room and studio bookings, keys and the calendar of the space are outside what MPass does. It provides the membership card, renewal reminders, membership certificates and event tickets, and leaves the daily organisation to your own tools.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
