The basketball club membership card, in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
On a Saturday with five home games in a row, the same hall sees two hundred players, parents and supporters, and nobody at the door knows which of them are members. A basketball club membership card in the Wallet shows the plan and the season on each phone, so the volunteer at the door or the cafeteria checks it in a second.

What players and supporters see on their card
Name, member number, plan and end of season, on a card in your club colours with your logo. The plans are yours to name: Senior, Youth and Supporter are only examples. Each member receives the card by email and adds it to their Wallet; parents can keep a young player’s card on their own phone. Renew a member for next season and the date changes on the card by itself. To check a card, open MPass on your phone and scan the QR code: valid or expired, you know at once.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Senior | €190 |
| Youth | €150 |
| Supporter | €30 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Indoor hall · Certified coach.
Three real situations
A Saturday of back-to-back home games
If you charge entry for the first-team game only, members with a supporter card are scanned in and visitors show the ticket you issued for that match. One phone at the door does both.
Member prices at the cafeteria
The volunteers behind the counter change every week and do not know every face. A card on the screen tells them who gets the member price for a drink or a sandwich after the under-14s game.
Handing out kit in September
Shirts and reversible tops go to players whose fee is settled. The team manager looks at the card instead of ringing the treasurer from the storeroom, and the awkward conversation happens once, not every week.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Basketball” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: nine teams and forty supporters
Take a club with nine teams, from under-10s to two senior sides, plus forty supporters: about 180 cards. Fees, as an example, are €190 for seniors, €150 for youth players and €30 for supporters, paid by transfer. The secretary posts the membership link in each team group; parents fill it in and the treasurer activates the cards as payments come in. At 180 cards the club needs Essential, €19 excl. VAT a month, and can produce a membership certificate when a parent asks for one.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Home match” or “Club dinner”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Can we give the volunteers at the scorer’s table a card too?
Yes. Create a plan for them, for example Volunteer, with no fee. Scorers, timekeepers and bar helpers then have the same card as everyone else, with their own plan on it, and the cafeteria can see who is entitled to the volunteers’ drink.
We charge entry for one game a week. Do we need a separate ticketing tool?
No. MPass includes ticketing for club events: you create the match, share the link and scan the tickets at the door. It does not take the money, though. Supporters pay you at the door or by transfer, exactly as they do now, and there is no commission.
What happens to the cards when the season ends?
Each card shows its end date and simply expires on that day; a scan then shows it as expired. On Essential, members get an automatic reminder a month before. When they renew and pay, you extend the card and the same card comes back to life on their phone.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
