Angling club membership card: the angler card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
On the bank of a club pond, the bailiff walks from peg to peg and asks for a card that is usually in the car, in another jacket, or soft from the rain. The angling club membership card is an angler card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, on the phone already lying next to the bait box, and it is checked by a scan.

What the bailiff reads on the angler card
The angler card shows the society’s name, the angler’s name and member number, the plan and the end of the season. Adult and Youth are example plans; day tickets for guests are handled as tickets. The card is sent by email or link and stays in the Wallet, where it is displayed even without signal. When a member renews in the new year, the card is extended. The bailiff scans the QR code with their own phone and sees whether it is valid. The card is the club’s permit for its own waters, not the public fishing licence.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Adult | €45 |
| Youth | €15 |
| Day ticket | €8 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Angler card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Private ponds · Competitions · Beginners.
Three real situations
The bailiff’s round
Twelve anglers spread round the pond on a Saturday. The bailiff scans each card without anyone reeling in: valid, expired or no card at all, the answer is on the screen and the conversation stays short.
A guest for the day
A member brings a brother-in-law, or a visitor asks at the chalet. The day ticket is issued through a link, paid to the club on the spot, and the guest has a QR code to show if the bailiff comes past.
Competition morning
Entrants gather at the chalet at six for the draw. Entries were taken as tickets in the weeks before; each is scanned before a peg number is drawn, so nobody fishes the match without having entered.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Fishing” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Angler card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a society with 90 anglers and two ponds
Take a society with 70 adult members and 20 juniors, fishing two ponds. Example fees: €45 and €15 for the season, with a day ticket at €8 for guests. Fees are paid in cash at the chalet or at the tackle shop that helps the club; the secretary activates cards in the evening. With 90 cards the society is on Essential at €19 excl. VAT a month. Members get a reminder a month before the card ends, and day tickets are issued from the same account when a guest turns up.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Fishing competition” or “Anglers’ barbecue”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Does the angler card replace the public fishing licence?
No. Where a public licence is required, each angler still has to hold it. The card is your society’s own: it shows that the angler has paid for the right to fish your ponds or stretches this season. The bailiff may ask for both.
There is hardly any signal at our ponds. Can the bailiff still check?
Yes. The card is stored in the angler’s Wallet and is displayed without a connection, and the QR code can be scanned offline. A pond at the bottom of a valley is not an obstacle; the bailiff needs only a charged phone.
How does a visitor get a day ticket?
You create day tickets as an event and share the link, for instance on a sign at the chalet or through the tackle shop. The visitor fills in their name and receives a ticket with a QR code. The €8, to keep the example, is paid to the club; MPass takes no money.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
