Model-making club membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A shared workshop full of tools, paints and half-built layouts should only be open to people who have joined, yet the key holder rarely knows every face. The model-making club membership card from MPass shows on the member’s phone that they are in for the year, and one scan at the workshop door confirms it.
No sign-up or credit card · your test card in 1 minute
What a modeller sees on the card
The card bears the club name and colours, the member’s name and number, and the plan they hold: for example Member at €30 or Youth at €10 a year. Its end date is shown, so a junior who joined for one year is not still using the bench three years later. If you extend a membership or a youngster moves to the adult rate, the card corrects itself in the Wallet. The key holder checks it by scanning the QR code with a phone; there is no reader to buy and no lock to fit.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €30 |
| Youth | €10 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Equipped workshop · Repair café · Beginners.
Three real situations
Opening the workshop on club night
Whoever unlocks the workshop scans the cards of people they do not know yet. A valid card means the member has joined this year and can use the benches, the airbrush booth or the test track.
The yearly model exhibition
For the exhibition in the multi-purpose hall, you create tickets and share one link on your poster and social pages. Visitors arrive with a QR code, a volunteer scans it at the door, and exhibiting members show their card instead.
Repair café afternoons
Volunteers who mend toasters and bikes can carry a card too, which helps when the hall caretaker asks who belongs to the group. Visitors bringing a broken item need nothing: the card is for the people who run the benches.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Model-making & DIY” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a model club with 38 members and one exhibition
Say a club has 30 adult members and 8 juniors who share a workshop two evenings a week. The treasurer adds the members one by one after the general meeting, which takes about an hour, and each receives the card by email. With 38 active cards, the Free plan is enough for the year. For the exhibition weekend, the club issues about 100 advance tickets, more than the free allowance, so it takes Essential at €19 excl. VAT for that month and drops back afterwards, as there is no commitment.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Model exhibition” or “Repair café”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Can the card open the workshop door?
No. MPass does not drive locks, gates or turnstiles. The card proves membership: someone with a phone scans the QR code, or simply looks at the name and the date. If your workshop has a key safe or a code, keep managing that as you do today.
Does MPass know who has been trained on which machine?
Not as such. The card shows a plan, a number and an end date. You could use plan names to mark a level, for example a separate plan for members cleared to use the lathe, but the training records themselves stay in your own notebook or spreadsheet.
Is a card useful for juniors who have no smartphone?
The card goes to an email address or a link, so a parent can keep it in their own Wallet and show it when dropping the child off. You may simply know your youngest members by sight; the card then mainly helps you see whose membership is still running.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
