Dance school membership card in the Wallet: a dancer card for every pupil

In the second week of term, a dance teacher faces twenty-two people in a salsa class that has eighteen names on the list, and cannot stop the music to check who signed up for what. A dance school membership card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet shows each dancer’s plan, one class or unlimited, before the warm-up starts.

One class, unlimited, child: what the dancer card shows

The dancer card shows the school’s name and colours, the dancer’s name and number, the plan and the end of the season. 1 class, Unlimited and Child are example plans with example prices; you can name plans after your own formula. A dancer who adds a second class in January is moved to another plan and the card changes on their phone. Children’s cards sit on a parent’s phone. At the studio door, the teacher or an assistant scans the QR code with a phone. MPass has no timetable and no attendance list.

Example planExample amount
1 class€180
Unlimited€320
Child€150

Example plans and amounts from the “Dancer card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Salsa · Rock · Ballroom · Hip-hop.

Three real situations

The first weeks of term

Trial lessons are over and classes settle. Before the warm-up, the teacher’s assistant looks at cards at the studio door: unlimited dancers go anywhere, one-class dancers are in the class they paid for.

The end-of-year gala

Every child brings parents, grandparents and a cousin. Tickets for the cultural centre are reserved through a link in the number the hall holds, paid to the school, and scanned at the door by volunteers.

Saturday dance night

Once a month the ballroom is open for social dancing. Members show their card for the members’ price, guests pay a little more at the table, and nobody needs to be known by name.

How it works: 3 steps

Open the “Dance” template

It is already set up for this activity: “Dancer card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.

Add your members

One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.

Scan with your phone

The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.

Example: a school with 190 dancers

Take a school with 80 adults on one class a week, 35 on the unlimited plan and 75 children. Example prices for the season: €180, €320 and €150, paid by transfer in two instalments that the school tracks itself. The membership link is sent with the timetable in August; cards are activated when the first instalment arrives. With 190 cards the school is on Essential at €19 excl. VAT a month. Tickets for the June gala are issued from the same account and paid to the school.

Tickets for your events too

The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Dance night” or “End-of-year gala”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.

What it costs

Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Does MPass assign numbered seats for the gala?

No. MPass issues tickets, with categories if you want them, such as adult and child, and a fixed number of each. It has no seating plan. If your hall needs numbered seats, that part stays with the theatre’s own plan.

With a one-class plan, does the card say which class?

It shows the plan’s name. If you want the class to be visible, name the plans accordingly, for example Salsa beginners or Hip-hop teens. MPass does not hold a timetable, so the link between a dancer and a time slot stays in your own records.

Can the teacher mark who attended each lesson?

Not in MPass. Scanning a card tells you whether it is valid; it does not build an attendance register. Teachers who need one keep their usual sheet. The card’s job is to show that the season is paid and on which plan.

Does MPass collect membership fees?

No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.

Do we need to install an app?

No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
