Kot-à-projet supporter card: a membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A kot-à-projet is eight or ten housemates running a project for a whole campus, with a tiny budget and supporters who chip in a few euros. The kot-à-projet supporter card is a membership card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet that thanks those supporters, gets them into your workshops, and costs you nothing to print.

A supporter card for a few euros a year
The card shows the name of your kot and its colours, the supporter’s name and number, the plan and the end of the academic year. Member and Support are example plans at a few euros each. Supporters fill in the membership link themselves; you send it in a message or print its QR code on a poster in the common room. When someone moves from Member to Support, the card changes on their phone. At a workshop or a party, one of the housemates scans the QR code with their own phone.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €5 |
| Support | €10 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Supporter card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Student projects · Network · Support.
Three real situations
Workshop night in the common room
The room holds twenty people at most. You publish the workshop with twenty tickets, share the link, and scan at the door of the kot. Supporters show their card if the workshop is cheaper for them.
The fundraising party
One big evening pays for half the year’s project. Tickets go out through a link, people pay the kot in cash or by mobile transfer, and the entrance team scans QR codes instead of ticking a printed list.
The October supporter drive
In the first weeks of term you go round lecture halls and stands. Anyone interested scans the poster, fills in their name, hands over their few euros, and has the card on their phone before you have moved on.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Kot-à-projet” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Supporter card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: ten housemates and 35 supporters
Picture a kot-à-projet about bike repair: 10 residents and 35 supporters. Example contributions: €5 for a member, €10 for the Support plan, paid in cash at the workshop. One housemate sets up the card in an evening and shares the membership link. With 45 active cards the kot stays on the free plan, which has no time limit. For the fundraising party, with around a hundred tickets, it takes Essential at €19 excl. VAT for that month only, since there is no commitment.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Kot workshop” or “Fundraising party”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
We have almost no budget. What does this cost a kot?
Nothing up to 50 active cards or tickets, and that has no time limit. A kot with a few dozen supporters fits in the free plan. A paid plan is only needed if you go beyond that, for example in the month of a big party, and it can be stopped afterwards.
The residents change every year. What happens to the account?
The account belongs to the kot, not to one resident. Supporters, plans and dates stay in it from year to year. At the handover, the outgoing team passes on the access and the new residents carry on with the same list and the same card design.
Can supporters give more than the fee through MPass?
No money passes through MPass, neither fees nor donations. Supporters pay the kot directly, the way you already do it. What MPass adds is the card that acknowledges their support, and the Support plan on it if they chose to give a little more.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
