Faculty student society membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
During freshers’ week your faculty society signs up hundreds of students at a stand, and by the first party the paper cards are lost or lent to a friend from another faculty. A student society membership card in the Wallet shows the member’s name and the academic year, and the door team scans it for the member price.
No sign-up or credit card · your test card in 1 minute
The faculty society card, on the member’s phone
The card shows the society’s logo and colours, the student’s name, a member number, the plan and the end of the academic year. Member and Member + are example plans, the second for those who also want, say, the society jumper price or the trips. Students get the card by email or by link and add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in a few seconds. It expires by itself when the year is over. At the door of a party or at the course-notes desk, a committee member scans the QR code with a phone.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €15 |
| Member + | €30 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Student society membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Parties · Trips · Shop discounts.
Three real situations
The stand in freshers’ week
A poster with the QR code of the membership link hangs on the stand. Students fill in their details on their own phone while they queue, pay the committee member in front of them, and the card is activated on the spot.
Member price at the door
At a party, members pay less than everyone else. The person on the door scans the card and sees a valid member for this year, not a card from two years ago that looks the same at arm’s length.
Course notes and society shop
When the society sells printed course notes or jumpers at a member price, the card is shown at the desk. The volunteer selling does not need to know the faces of a first-year lecture hall.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Faculty society” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Student society membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a faculty society with 450 members
Imagine a science faculty society with 450 members, 120 of them on a Member + plan. Example fees: €15 and €30 for the year, paid in cash or by mobile transfer at the stand. Above 300 cards the society needs Pro at €49 excl. VAT a month; second- and third-year students from last year’s list are imported from a spreadsheet, first-years join through the link. For the faculty ball, tickets are issued by link and scanned at the gala hall, with payment made to the society.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Back-to-school party” or “Faculty ball”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Does the card replace the university’s student card?
No. The student card comes from the university and proves enrolment. The society card proves membership of your society for this academic year. The two serve different purposes, and the porter at the library will still ask for the first one.
Hundreds of people join in three days. Can the committee keep up?
The slow part, typing names, is done by the students themselves through the membership link. What remains for the committee is to take the fee and activate the card. Returning members can be imported from a spreadsheet with Pro.
Can we hold a pre-sale for the faculty ball?
You can open ticket booking in advance through a link and set how many tickets exist. MPass does not take the money: students pay the society at your stand or by transfer. Each ticket carries a QR code and is scanned once at the entrance.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
