Student order membership card: the order card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
An order with its cap, songs and banquet does not want a loud plastic card, and its committee changes every spring while the member list has to survive the handover. The student order membership card is a plain order card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, on a list the next committee inherits.

A discreet order card: what it carries
You choose the colours and add the order’s crest, so the card can be as restrained as you like. It shows the member’s name, a number, the plan and the validity date. Member and Committee are example plans; the committee plan can carry no fee. Cards are sent by email or by link, never printed. When the new committee takes office, you change the plan of those concerned and their cards update on their phones. At a members-only evening, one person scans the QR codes at the door with a phone.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €20 |
| Committee | Free |
Example plans and amounts from the “Order card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Initiation · Parties · Traditions.
Three real situations
The order’s banquet
Places are counted and the caterer wants a number. Each guest receives a ticket in their own name through the link, pays the treasurer, and is scanned on arrival. A ticket shown twice is flagged.
A members-only evening
Some evenings at the society’s premises are for members of the order and no one else. The door is held by one person with a phone, who scans the card instead of relying on who recognises whom.
The spring handover
Outgoing and incoming committees meet once. The member list, the plans and the validity dates are already in the account, so the new secretary does not start from a spreadsheet found on someone’s laptop.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Student folklore” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Order card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: an order of 40 members
Take an order with 32 members and a committee of 8. Example fees: €20 for members, nothing for the committee. The secretary adds the forty names one by one after the first meeting of the year and sends each card by link. Fees are handed over in cash at the premises and the cards are activated the same evening. Forty active cards fit in the free plan, with no time limit. The banquet’s 60 named tickets would go beyond 50, so the order takes Essential at €19 excl. VAT for that month.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Order banquet” or “Traditions night”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing. By event type: Student night · all events.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Can the card stay sober, without flashy graphics?
Yes. You pick the colours and place your own crest or logo. Nothing obliges you to use bright shades. The card then shows a few lines of text and a QR code, on a background in the order’s colours.
Committee members pay no fee. Can they still have a card?
Yes. The fee attached to a plan is only indicative, and it can be zero. A Committee plan gives its holders a card that names their role for the year. When the committee changes, you move people from one plan to the other.
Who can see our member list?
The people you give access to the order’s MPass account, and nobody else. Data is hosted in the European Union and handled in line with the GDPR. The list remains yours and is not public.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
