Student night tickets for your society: members, non-members and a quick door
A student society sells tickets from a table in the corridor, the list is on the treasurer’s laptop, and at the door half the room claims to be a member. MPass gives you student night tickets through one link, with a member and a non-member price, and a scan at the entrance that takes a second.

A ticket that says member or non-member
The ticket shows the night’s name, the date, door time, the venue and the society’s colours, with the ticket type in plain view: for example Member at €5 or Non-member at €8, each with its own number of places. Committee members drop the link in the course and year group chats; students enter a name and an email or mobile number and add the ticket to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. If a night is for members only, the booking asks for the member number. MPass collects nothing and takes no cut: the price on the ticket is paid to the society.
| Example category | Displayed price | Places |
|---|---|---|
| Member | €5 | 250 |
| Non-member | €8 | 100 |
Example categories, prices and numbers of places: you change everything. The price is shown on the ticket for information; MPass does not collect it.
Three moments of your event
Freshers’ week: one link, many chats
New students do not know the committee yet, but they are in the group chats within days. A link that opens a ticket in two taps reaches them where a poster on the noticeboard does not, and the places left per type show how fast first-years are booking.
The stall the day before
If you keep a stall on campus, use it to take the money: students show the ticket on their phone, pay in cash or by mobile transfer, and you tick them off your own list. MPass does not record who has paid, so that list stays with the treasurer.
At the door of the union
Two committee members scan with their own phones. A ticket already used is refused, which ends the screenshot trick. For the member price, ask to see the society’s membership card, which you can also issue with MPass.
How it works: 3 steps
Create the event
Name, date, time, doors and venue. Choose the “Student night” type, your colours or an image, then your ticket categories with a displayed price and a number of places.
Share the link
By WhatsApp, email, social media or on your website. Each person enters their name, picks a category and gets a ticket with a QR code straight away, to add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Scan at the door
Your team scans tickets with their own phones, with no hardware to buy. A ticket that has already been scanned is refused.
Example: a freshers’ party with 140 places
Take a society with a freshers’ party in the students’ union, capped at 140: 100 Member tickets shown at €5 and 40 Non-member at €8. Most students pay at the stall during the week, the rest at the door in cash, and the treasurer keeps the tally. Two phones scan from 10 pm. With 140 tickets in the month the society fits Essential at €19 a month excluding VAT, which allows 150 tickets a month and three active events, so a second, smaller evening can be opened alongside. For a night with 400 guests, MPass is not the right tool today.
Who collects the ticket price?
You do. MPass does not collect the ticket price and does not check payment: the ticket shows the amount “to be paid to the organiser”. Your guests pay you as they always have, on the door, in cash, by bank transfer or on your card reader. In return there is no commission and no per-ticket fee, and the money goes straight to you. If you need online payment at the time of booking, a ticketing platform with payments will suit you better.
What it costs
Free: 10 tickets a month, 1 active event, scanning on 1 phone. Essential (€19 a month excluding VAT): 150 tickets a month, 3 active events, 2 phones. Pro (€49 a month excluding VAT): 300 tickets a month, unlimited events, 5 phones, guest lists and tickets with no MPass mention. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card. More than 300 tickets a month? Write to us before you start.
Frequently asked questions
How do we stop non-members booking at the member price?
The link cannot tell who is a member unless the whole night is members only, in which case the member number is asked at booking. For a mixed night, the type is written on the ticket: check the membership card at the door and charge the difference to anyone who took the wrong one.
Can one student book for the whole flat?
One booking gives one ticket, with no basket and no quantity field. A student who books for five flatmates fills in the short form five times and holds five tickets on one phone. Forwarding the link is the better habit: each friend then has their own ticket and can arrive when they like.
A student cannot come and wants to pass the ticket on. Is that possible?
MPass has no transfer or resale of tickets, and it gives no refunds either, since no money goes through it. What happens to the entry price is the society’s decision. In practice the friend books a ticket of their own while places remain, or a committee member adds them by hand.
Do guests need to install an app?
No. The ticket opens from a link and goes into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on the phone.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. The trial button shows you an MPass pass on your own phone in a minute, with no sign-up. To create an event and share its link, you then open a free account: 10 tickets a month are included.
And the membership card?
Organisations that run this kind of event often have members too. The same app creates their membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and an event can be reserved for members. All cards by activity.
