Prom and ball tickets: entry, dinner and a door that keeps moving

A prom committee is a handful of students or parents with a hall deposit to cover and a list of names that grows in a notebook. MPass issues prom and ball tickets through one link, with separate types for entry and for entry with dinner, and the door scans each guest in from a phone.

Two kinds of ball ticket: with or without dinner

The ticket names the ball, the date, the time doors open and the hall, and shows your colours or the theme artwork. Typical types are Entry, for example at €20, and Entry + dinner at €45, each limited to the places you have, so the dinner type stops at the caterer’s number. The link goes out by class chat, email or the club newsletter. Guests enter their name and an email or mobile number and keep the ticket in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The price shown is information only: MPass handles no money and the ticket says it is paid to the organiser.

Three moments of your event

Three months ahead: gauging numbers

Before signing with the caterer you need a head count. Opening the dinner type early shows how many places are taken, week by week, and gives the committee a figure to put in front of the hall and the DJ.

Collecting the money at school or the club

Guests pay the committee directly: by transfer with the guest’s name as reference, or in cash at a lunchtime desk. The treasurer keeps the paid list, since MPass does not check payment. Unpaid tickets are settled at the door or turned away, as you decide.

Dinner at 7, dancing from 9.30

The ticket type is written on the ticket, so the door team sees who is expected at the tables and who arrives for the dancing. Each code is accepted once. For guests who go outside during the night, a wristband saves scanning twice.

How it works: 3 steps

Create the event

Name, date, time, doors and venue. Choose the “Ball and prom” type, your colours or an image, then your ticket categories with a displayed price and a number of places.

Share the link

By WhatsApp, email, social media or on your website. Each person enters their name, picks a category and gets a ticket with a QR code straight away, to add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Scan at the door

Your team scans tickets with their own phones, with no hardware to buy. A ticket that has already been scanned is refused.

Create tickets for my ball

Example: a summer ball with 270 guests

Suppose a leavers’ committee books the assembly rooms for a summer ball: 180 Entry tickets shown at €20 and 90 Entry + dinner at €45, 270 in all. Students pay by bank transfer or in cash at school, and two committee members tick names off a shared sheet. On the night four phones scan at two doors. That number calls for Pro at €49 a month excluding VAT: up to 300 tickets in the month, and enough scanning phones for both doors. There is no commitment, so the committee can stop the plan once the ball is over and the hall is swept.

Who collects the ticket price?

You do. MPass does not collect the ticket price and does not check payment: the ticket shows the amount “to be paid to the organiser”. Your guests pay you as they always have, on the door, in cash, by bank transfer or on your card reader. In return there is no commission and no per-ticket fee, and the money goes straight to you. If you need online payment at the time of booking, a ticketing platform with payments will suit you better.

What it costs

Frequently asked questions

Can a student bring a partner from another school?

Yes, if your committee allows it. The link is open to anyone who has it, so the partner books a ticket under their own name. If you want to approve outside guests first, do not share the link widely: add those guests yourself once the committee has agreed.

Parents want to pay for their child’s ticket by card. Is that possible?

Not through MPass, which has no online payment. Parents pay the committee the way you choose: bank transfer, cash, or a card reader if the school or club has one. The ticket itself is issued at booking, so keep your own record of who has paid before the night.

Our ball usually has more than 300 guests. Can we use MPass?

Plans stop at 300 tickets a month, so a ball of 400 or 500 does not fit today. Some committees use MPass for the dinner places only, where numbers are smaller and the caterer needs an exact count. For the whole ball, write to hello@mpass.be and describe your evening before you rely on it.

Do guests need to install an app?

No. The ticket opens from a link and goes into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on the phone.

Can I try it without an account?

Yes. The trial button shows you an MPass pass on your own phone in a minute, with no sign-up. To create an event and share its link, you then open a free account: 10 tickets a month are included.

And the membership card?

Organisations that run this kind of event often have members too. The same app creates their membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and an event can be reserved for members. All cards by activity.
