The alumni card for former students, in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
An alumni association loses track of its graduates as soon as they change email address, and the yearly membership appeal lands in mailboxes nobody reads. An alumni card in the Wallet stays on the former student’s phone through every move, shows whether they are an annual or lifetime member, and is scanned at reunions.

Annual or lifetime, the card says which
The card bears the association’s name and the school’s colours, the graduate’s name, a member number, the type of membership and its validity. Types are up to you, for example Alumni at €30 a year and Lifetime alumni at €250 paid once. Annual members see the date move forward on their phone at each renewal, with no new card to send; lifetime members are recognised by the type written on theirs. At a reunion or a talk, a committee member scans the QR code with a phone.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Alumni | €30 |
| Lifetime alumni | €250 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Alumni card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Alumni network · Job board · Events.
Three real situations
The ten-year class reunion
The reunion committee shares a ticket link in the class group. Former classmates register, pay their share to the association and arrive at the function hall with a QR code that is scanned at the door.
An alumni talk in the old lecture theatre
Members come in on their alumni card, other graduates and current students on a ticket. The association sees who its paying members are without asking anyone to prove it out loud.
The yearly renewal appeal
On the Essential plan and above, annual members receive an automatic reminder a month before their card ends. The volunteer who used to write those emails one by one can spend the time on the next reunion.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Former students (alumni)” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Alumni card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: an alumni association with 280 members
Take the alumni of a business school: 230 annual members and 50 lifetime members. Graduates join through the membership link in the association’s newsletter and pay by transfer; a volunteer activates the card on receipt. With 280 cards, the Essential plan at €19 excl. VAT per month is enough for the year. Two events, a talk with 80 seats in the autumn and a reunion evening for 120 in the spring, use tickets scanned at the door. Above 300 cards, the association would move to Pro at €49.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Alumni evening” or “Alumni talk”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
How does a lifetime membership work on the card?
Create a Lifetime type, for example at €250 paid once, and give those cards a validity that reflects it. Unlike annual cards, they are not due for renewal each year. The card states the type, so lifetime members are recognised at every event.
Can new graduates get a card automatically at graduation?
Not automatically, as MPass is not linked to the school’s records. You can share the membership link at the graduation ceremony so that graduates sign themselves up, or import a list on the Pro plan if the school provides one with the graduates’ agreement.
Does MPass include a directory or a job board?
No. MPass provides the alumni card, renewal reminders, membership certificates and event tickets. A member directory, a job board or a mentoring platform would be separate tools. The card simply shows who is a member of the network.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
