Regional student society membership card in the Wallet, on campus and back home
A regional society gathers students from the same home region, and its card has to work in two places: at the door of your parties in the university town and at the counter of partner cafés back home. The regional student society membership card sits in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and shows a name and a valid year in both.

What members and partners see on the card
The card bears the society’s colours and crest, the member’s name and number, the plan and the end of the academic year. Member and Supporter are example plans, the second for former students or friends who back the society without coming every week. You send the card by email or share a link. A partner in your home town only needs to look at the screen: name, society, date. For your own events, a committee member scans the QR code with a phone. When a member renews in September, the card updates.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €10 |
| Supporter | €5 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Regional society · Events · Solidarity.
Three real situations
A partner café back home
On a weekend at home, the member shows the card for the agreed discount. The owner does not need an account or a scanner: the society’s name and a date still in the future are on the screen.
The coach for the society weekend
Forty seats, departure from the station at eight. Each place is a ticket with a QR code, scanned as people board, so the person in charge knows who is missing before the driver closes the doors.
First party of the term
New students from the region hear of the society that evening. They join through the link on the spot, pay the committee, and their card is active before the end of the night.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Regional society” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: 80 members and 25 supporters
Say a regional society has 80 student members and 25 supporters, mostly former members now working back in the region. Example fees: €10 and €5 a year. The secretary sends the membership link to last year’s list and posts it in the society’s group. Fees are paid by mobile transfer or in cash at the first party. With 105 cards, the society takes Essential at €19 excl. VAT a month; the weekend’s 40 coach seats are issued as tickets from the same account.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Regional society party” or “Regional society weekend”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Do partner shops need an app to accept the card?
No. For a discount, looking at the card is enough: it shows the society, the member’s name and the validity date. Scanning the QR code is for your committee, from the society’s MPass account, at events where you control the entrance.
Can former students stay on as supporters?
Yes. A Supporter plan with a smaller fee, or none, gives them a card of their own. It keeps them on your list for the banquet or the anniversary, and you can tell at a glance which cards belong to current students.
The weekend has a fixed number of beds. How do we avoid overbooking?
Set the number of tickets when you create the event. Once they are gone, the link stops issuing them. Payment for the weekend goes to the society directly, and you decide yourselves what happens when someone drops out.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
