Rugby club membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A rugby club counts players, parents of minis, touch regulars, old boys and supporters who have not missed a home game in ten years, and the bar treats them all as members. A rugby club membership card in the Wallet shows who has actually joined this season and on which plan, with a scan when in doubt.

The clubhouse card for players and supporters
Every member gets a card with the club crest, their name and number, their plan and the last day of the season. Senior, Youth and Supporter are given here as examples of plans; touch players or former players can have their own. The card arrives by email and goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. When someone renews, or a youth player moves into the senior squad, the card updates by itself. Behind the bar or at the gate, a volunteer scans the QR code with a phone and sees whether the card is valid.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Senior | €190 |
| Youth | €140 |
| Supporter | €25 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: XV · VII · Touch · Certified refereeing.
Three real situations
After the match, at the bar
Home side, visitors and both sets of supporters arrive together. If members have their own price, the card on the phone is quicker than a membership list taped behind the till.
Touch season in summer
From May, touch brings people who never play fifteens. They join through the membership link on a cheaper plan with its own dates, and they are on the club’s list instead of on a scrap of paper in the kit room.
The annual club dinner
Places are limited by the size of the clubhouse. Tickets go out through a link, people settle up with the treasurer, and at the door a scan confirms each one. No more counting heads against a handwritten list.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Rugby” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: 130 members around one pitch
Take a club with 45 senior players, 60 youth players and minis, and 25 supporters. Example fees: €190, €140 and €25. The secretary adds returning players from last season’s list and gives the membership link to the youth coaches for new families. Fees come in by transfer through September and cards are activated one by one. With 130 cards the club is on Essential at €19 excl. VAT a month. For the club dinner in March, it issues 80 tickets from the same account.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Home match” or “Club dinner”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Can supporters and former players have a card without playing?
Yes. A plan is only a name, a fee and a period. You can create Supporter, Old boys or Social member plans next to the playing ones. Their cards look the same and are scanned the same way; only the plan line differs.
Does the card prove a player is registered or insured to play?
No. Player registration, medical forms and insurance are handled with your federation and insurer, not in MPass. The card shows club membership for the season. Team managers should keep checking eligibility the way they do now.
Parents of minis are not members. Do they need anything?
Not unless you want them to. A child’s card can sit in a parent’s Wallet, which covers the Sunday morning check. If parents get clubhouse benefits, add a Parent plan at no fee and they will have their own card.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
