The startup badge for incubators and accelerators, in the Wallet
Each cohort brings thirty new founders, a dozen mentors and a stream of investors into the building, and reception has no idea who is who by week two. A startup badge from your incubator in the Wallet identifies founders and mentors for the length of the programme, and demo day guests arrive with a ticket to scan.

Founder or mentor, for the length of the cohort
The badge shows the incubator’s name and colours, the person’s name, a number, their role and the date the badge ends, typically the last day of the programme. Roles are set as plans, for example Founder at €0 and Mentor at €0, the amount being indicative only. When a startup is kept on for a second cohort, you extend the badge and the date changes on the phone. Badges of teams that leave expire by themselves. Reception or the programme manager scans the QR code with a phone.

Example plans and amounts from the “Startup badge” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Startup studio · Mentoring · Investors · Demo day.
Three real situations
Monday morning at reception
A founder arrives with two new hires the receptionist has never seen. Each shows a badge on their phone; a scan confirms they belong to the current cohort. Visitors without a badge sign the visitors’ book as before.
Mentor office hours
Mentors come in once a month and never remember a plastic badge. Theirs is in the Wallet, marked Mentor, valid for the season. The programme manager no longer prints stickers on mentoring days.
Demo day in the auditorium
Investors, partners and press register through the ticket link in your invitation. Each receives a QR code, the registration desk scans phones, and founders can concentrate on their pitch instead of the guest list.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Incubator & accelerator” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Startup badge” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a cohort of 12 startups and 15 mentors
Imagine an accelerator hosting 12 startups, around 30 founders and team members, with 15 mentors: 45 badges. The programme manager adds them at kick-off and each receives the badge by email. That fits the Free plan of 50 active cards or tickets. Demo day, with 130 guests, goes beyond it, so the incubator takes Essential at €19 excl. VAT for that month, creates the event, shares the link in its invitation and scans tickets at the auditorium door.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Demo day” or “Fundraising workshop”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Is the startup badge an access badge for the building?
No. It does not open doors, lifts or turnstiles. It is a proof of belonging to the programme that a person checks by scanning it with a phone. If your building has an access control system, founders keep that badge as well.
Can team members have a different badge from founders?
Yes. Add a plan for each role you want to tell apart: founder, team member, mentor, expert in residence. The role is written on the badge. Each person gets their own, sent to their own email address.
What happens to badges when a cohort ends?
Each badge has an end date. Set it to the last day of the programme and the badges expire on their own; an expired badge no longer passes the scan. For startups you keep, extend the date and their badge is updated in the Wallet.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
