The festival pass for small festivals, in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A small festival run by volunteers has no budget for wristband printers and rented scanners, yet it still needs to know at the gate who holds a one-day pass and who is in for the weekend. A festival pass in the Wallet shows the type of pass and carries a QR code that a volunteer scans with an ordinary phone.

One-day pass or weekend pass
Each festival-goer receives a pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet with the festival’s name and colours, their name, a number, the type of pass and the dates it is valid for. Types are yours to define, for example a 3-day pass at €89 and a 1-day pass at €39. Festival-goers register through a link, or you add them yourself once they have paid you, since MPass handles no money. If someone upgrades from one day to three, the pass changes on their phone. At the gate, a volunteer scans the QR code with a phone.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| 3-day pass | €89 |
| 1-day pass | €39 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Festival pass” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Music · Culture · Food · Camping.
Three real situations
Gates open on the first afternoon
The queue forms along the field. A volunteer scans passes from phones, and people without one are sent to the cash desk tent. There is no stack of printed tickets to tear and no list to consult in the sun.
Coming back on day two
A three-day pass stays in the Wallet for the whole festival. The festival-goer shows it again the next morning, and the type written on it tells the gate that it is a weekend pass and not yesterday’s day pass.
Volunteers and artists
Bar staff, stage crew and musicians also need to get in. Give them a pass type of their own, such as Crew at €0, so the gate recognises them without a separate list taped to the fence.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Festival” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Festival pass” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a village festival with 260 passes
Take a three-day music and food festival organised by an association. It hands out 110 three-day passes, 120 one-day passes and 30 crew passes, 260 in total. Passes are paid for in advance at two local shops and by transfer, and the treasurer keeps the list of buyers in a spreadsheet. She takes the Pro plan at €49 excl. VAT per month for the two months around the festival, imports the list from Excel, and each festival-goer receives the pass by email.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Festival · day 1” or “Festival · day 2”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Is MPass suitable for a festival of several thousand people?
No, and it is better to say so. MPass is built for clubs and associations: a village festival, a neighbourhood food festival, a few hundred passes. A large festival with several gates, wristbands and cashless payment needs a dedicated ticketing company.
Can passes be limited to zones such as camping or backstage?
The pass shows its type, for example 1-day, 3-day or Crew, and the person at each checkpoint reads it on the screen or scans it. MPass does not manage zones or gates by itself: your stewards decide, from the type shown, who may go where.
Do we still need wristbands?
That depends on how people move around your site. The pass in the Wallet proves the right to enter and can be shown again each day. If you want to see at a glance who is already inside, a wristband given after the scan remains a simple addition.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
