Cycling club membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A cycling club has no door: the group meets on the village square, and the only day anyone checks anything is the annual ride, when hundreds of strangers queue at a trestle table. A cycling club membership card in the Wallet shows who rides with you this year, and the same tool issues the tickets for the big day.

A membership card that fits in a jersey pocket
The phone is already in the back pocket, so the card is too. It shows the rider’s name, member number, plan and validity, with the club’s colours and logo. Member, Racing and Youth are example plans. A rider who takes up racing mid-season has their plan changed and the card updates. You send cards by email or drop the link in the club chat. Checking is done by scanning the QR code with your own phone. The card is a club card: it is not a racing licence and carries no insurance.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €60 |
| Racing licence | €120 |
| Youth | €35 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Weekly rides · Competitions · Mechanics.
Three real situations
The annual MTB ride
Riders who registered in advance show a ticket with a QR code at the start table; you scan it and hand over the frame plate and the feed-stop wristband. That queue moves quickly, and the cash table handles the rest.
Discount at the bike shop
If a local shop gives your members ten per cent off tubes and servicing, the card is what the rider shows at the till. The shop sees the club name, the rider’s name and a date that has not passed.
First group ride of the season
In March, the ride captain needs to know who has renewed before the group rolls out. Paid-up members have an active card; the others get a friendly word and the membership link.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Cycling & MTB” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: 65 members and one open ride a year
Say a club has 50 road and gravel riders, 8 who race and 7 juniors. Example fees: €60 for a member, €120 for the racing plan, €35 for juniors. The treasurer adds everyone by hand in January, which takes an evening, and activates cards as transfers arrive. For the spring MTB ride the club opens advance registration through a ticket link. With 65 cards plus the tickets for the ride, the club is above the free plan’s 50 and takes Essential at €19 excl. VAT a month.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Sunday ride · 80 km” or “Annual MTB ride”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Racing plan a racing licence?
No. Licences and the insurance that comes with them are issued by federations, and MPass has no link with them. A Racing plan on the card only tells the club which members race and pay the corresponding fee.
Can riders register for our annual ride through MPass?
They can get a ticket in advance through the link you share, and you scan it at the start. The entry fee is paid to the club, at the table or by transfer, because MPass takes no money. On-the-day entries still go through your usual table.
Most of us never meet at a clubhouse. Is a card worth having?
It depends on what you do with it. If members get shop discounts, a club kit price or member rates on the annual ride, the card is the proof. If you are fifteen friends who ride on Sundays, a list on paper does the job.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
