Seniors’ club membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, or printed

In a seniors’ club, subscriptions are paid in cash at the January meeting, the coach for the day trip has 52 seats, and a third of the members have no smartphone. A seniors’ club membership card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for those who have one, and you print its QR code for those who do not.

A clear card, on a phone or on paper

The card shows few things, clearly: the club’s name, the member’s name and number, the plan and the year. Member and Couple are example plans. Members with a smartphone receive the card by email and add it with one tap; there is no app to install and no password to remember. For the others, you print the QR code of their card from MPass and they keep it in a wallet or handbag. When the subscription is renewed, the card is extended. The secretary scans either version with a phone.

Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Seniors’ club · Outings · Talks.

Three real situations

The coach leaves from the town square

Seats on the day trip are tickets, each with a QR code and the departure point. The organiser scans them at the coach door, on a phone screen or on paper, and sees who is missing before telling the driver to go.

The tea dance

At the door of the function hall, members pay the members’ price and guests a little more. The volunteer at the table checks the card instead of relying on memory, which spares everyone an awkward moment.

The January meeting

The treasurer collects subscriptions at a table by the entrance, in cash, as always. Each payment is noted and the cards are extended that evening, so the year’s list is right from the first week.

How it works: 3 steps

Open the “Seniors & friendly societies” template

It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.

Add your members

One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.

Scan with your phone

The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.

Example: a friendly society of 85 members

Imagine a society with 45 single members and 20 couples, 85 people in all. Example subscriptions: €20 for a member, €35 for a couple. The secretary adds everyone herself from the paper register. About fifty members receive the card on their phone, often set up with a grandchild’s help; for the others she prints the QR codes on a sheet and cuts them out. With 85 cards the society is on Essential at €19 excl. VAT a month. Trips are issued as tickets, paid to the treasurer.

Tickets for your events too

The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Day trip” or “Tea dance”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.

What it costs

Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Many of our members have no smartphone. Is the card any use to them?

Yes. You can print the QR code of a member’s card from MPass and hand it over on paper. The scanner reads the printed code exactly like the one on a phone, so one check works for the whole club at the coach or the hall.

With a Couple plan, do both partners get a card?

You choose. One card in both names is enough if they always come together. If each goes to different activities, add them as two people on the Couple plan and each has their own card, on a phone or printed.

Is the card hard to add for someone not at ease with phones?

The member opens the email, taps the button for Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and the card is there. There is no account, no password and nothing to download. It is the kind of step a volunteer can do with ten members after a meeting.

Does MPass collect membership fees?

No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.

Do we need to install an app?

No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
