Tech meetup membership card and tickets in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
A meetup with free registration fills up on paper, then a third of the names never appear and the host at the coworking space still wants someone checking the door. With a tech meetup membership card and a ticket per session in the Wallet, you know who belongs to the community and you scan people in as they arrive.
No sign-up or credit card · your test card in 1 minute
One card for members, supporters and sponsors
Each card displays the community’s name and logo, the holder’s name, a member number and the plan. Plans are yours to define, for example Member at €0, Supporter at €50 and Sponsor at €500 a year, and the price is shown for information only. A supporter who becomes a sponsor sees the card change in their phone once you edit it, and the end date tells you when to ask again. At the venue, an organiser scans the QR code with a phone to confirm the card is live.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | Free |
| Supporter | €50 |
| Sponsor | €500 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Dev · Data · AI · Product · Networking.
Three real situations
Doors open at the monthly meetup
Attendees register through the link you post with the talk line-up and get a ticket with a QR code. One organiser scans at the entrance of the coworking space, so the host gets a controlled door instead of an open one.
Thanking the people who fund the pizza
Supporters and sponsors hold a card that says so. It is a small thing, but it gives a yearly contribution a visible form, and the automatic reminder on the Essential plan nudges them a month before it lapses.
Check-in at the annual conference
For the bigger day in an auditorium, create a separate event and share its link. Speakers, volunteers and attendees each receive a ticket; the registration desk scans phones instead of hunting for names in a spreadsheet.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Tech & dev meetup” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: a developer community of 140 members
Imagine a data and AI meetup with 120 free members, 18 supporters and 2 sponsoring companies. The organisers put the membership link in their chat channel and people sign themselves up; contributions from supporters arrive by bank transfer and the cards are then switched to the right plan. With 140 cards, the community is on the Essential plan at €19 excl. VAT per month. Each monthly meetup of 60 to 80 seats is a new set of tickets scanned at the door.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Meetup #12 · Generative AI” or “Annual conference”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a waiting list when a meetup is full?
MPass issues tickets through a link and lets you scan them at the door; it does not run a waiting list for you. If your room is limited, keep an eye on the number of tickets issued and stop sharing the link when you reach it.
Can sponsors pay their contribution through MPass?
No. MPass never handles money and takes no commission. A sponsor pays your association by invoice and transfer as usual, and you then set their card to the Sponsor plan. The amount on the plan is only an indication.
Do attendees need an account or an app?
Neither. The card or ticket arrives by email or link and is added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, which are already on the phone. For a crowd that dislikes installing yet another tool, that is often the deciding point.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
