Expat community membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
Members of an expat association arrive and leave all year, change phone numbers and often have no local bank card yet, so a membership list ages quickly. An expat community membership card in the Wallet gives each newcomer something concrete from day one and shows, at any event, whose membership is still running.
No sign-up or credit card · your test card in 1 minute
A card newcomers can use from their first week
The card shows the association’s name and colours, the member’s name and number, the plan and the date it runs to. Plans might be, for example, Member at €30 and Family at €50 a year. Because people join in every month of the year, the end date on each card matters more than a season: extend it when the member renews and the new date appears in their phone. MPass itself is available in English, French, Dutch and German. At an event, a volunteer scans the QR code with their own phone.
| Example plan | Example amount |
|---|---|
| Member | €30 |
| Family | €50 |
Example plans and amounts from the “Membership card” template: you change the names, the amounts and the validity period. MPass does not collect these amounts. On the back of the card you write your own text, for example: Expats Belgium · Events · Buddy system.
Three real situations
Welcome drinks for new arrivals
The link to join goes out with the invitation. A newcomer fills it in on the tram, pays the fee to the association in whatever way you accept, and walks in with a card on their phone instead of a promise to sort it out later.
Boarding the coach for a day trip
For an outing with limited seats, each participant gets a ticket with a QR code. The volunteer at the station scans phones as people board, which is quicker than calling out names on a platform.
When a member moves away
Expat life means departures. A card that is not renewed simply reaches its end date and stops being valid at the scan, so your list of current members stays honest without anyone being chased after they have left.
How it works: 3 steps
Open the “Expat community” template
It is already set up for this activity: “Membership card” as the title, example plans, colours. Add your logo and your own text in ten minutes.
Add your members
One by one, through a sign-up link each person fills in, or by Excel import on the Pro plan. Everyone receives their card by email or by link.
Scan with your phone
The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. To check it, you scan its QR code with your own phone, with no hardware to buy.
Example: an international association of 180 members
Imagine an association with 120 individual members and 30 families of two adults, run by five volunteers. Sign-up happens through the membership link on the website and in the welcome email. Fees are paid to the association by transfer or in cash at events, then a volunteer activates the card. With 180 cards, the Essential plan at €19 excl. VAT per month fits, and its automatic reminder replaces the renewal emails that used to be written one at a time.
Tickets for your events too
The same app creates tickets for your events, for example “Welcome drinks” or “Day trip to Ghent”. You share a link, each guest gets a ticket with a QR code in their Wallet, and you scan at the door. MPass does not collect the ticket price: you take it as you always have. See event ticketing.
What it costs
Free up to 50 active cards or tickets, with no time limit. The Essential plan (€19 a month excluding VAT, up to 300 cards) adds renewal reminders and certificates. The Pro plan (€49 a month excluding VAT) adds Excel import. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Does one Family plan give a card to each family member?
A card is issued per person you add. For a family membership, you can add each adult, and older children if you wish, under the Family plan so that everyone has a card in their own phone. Each of those cards counts towards the number of active cards on your MPass plan.
Our members pay from foreign bank accounts. Is that a problem?
Not for MPass, because no payment passes through it. You keep collecting fees the way that works for your members, whether by transfer, cash at an event or a payment tool you already use, and you activate the card once the fee has arrived.
In which languages does it work?
MPass is available in English, French, Dutch and German, which covers the working languages of most international groups in Belgium and its neighbours. The text you put on the card, such as plan names, is yours to write in the language your community uses.
Does MPass collect membership fees?
No. You enter the amounts for information only. Your members pay the club as usual (bank transfer, in person) and you activate their card in MPass. No payment goes through the app.
Do we need to install an app?
No. You manage everything from your browser, and your members install nothing: the card goes straight into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on their phone.
