Quiz night tickets: one captain books the team, the hall fills table by table
A quiz night is filled table by table: thirty teams fit the village hall, and the organiser spends the week being asked whether there is room for one more. With MPass, quiz night tickets are taken through a link, one per team, and booking closes by itself when the last table has gone.

A team ticket held by the captain
The ticket shows the name of the quiz, the date, the time doors open, the hall and your club’s colours. The simplest set-up is one ticket per team, for example Team of 4 at €20 with 30 places, plus Solo player at €6 for people you group on the night. The captain opens the link from the club’s chat, enters a name and an email or mobile number, and stores the ticket in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The team’s entry is paid to the club at the door, in cash or by card. MPass takes no payment, does not check it and keeps nothing from your fundraiser.
| Example category | Displayed price | Places |
|---|---|---|
| Team of 4 | €20 | 30 |
| Solo player | €6 | 20 |
Example categories, prices and numbers of places: you change everything. The price is shown on the ticket for information; MPass does not collect it.
Three moments of your event
The announcement in the club chat
Last year’s winners book first. Because one ticket stands for a whole team, the places left are the tables left, and you can tell the hall caretaker exactly how many trestle tables to set out.
The day before: tables and answer sheets
You print one pack of answer sheets per ticket issued and decide where the solo players sit. If you enter a team by hand, you can add a table number. Team names are collected on the night, as the booking only asks for the captain’s name.
Doors open, round one at 8 pm
The captain shows the ticket, one scan admits the team, and the entry money goes into the tin. A second team trying the same code is refused. From then on the phones are put away, which suits a quiz night rather well.
How it works: 3 steps
Create the event
Name, date, time, doors and venue. Choose the “Quiz night” type, your colours or an image, then your ticket categories with a displayed price and a number of places.
Share the link
By WhatsApp, email, social media or on your website. Each person enters their name, picks a category and gets a ticket with a QR code straight away, to add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Scan at the door
Your team scans tickets with their own phones, with no hardware to buy. A ticket that has already been scanned is refused.
Example: a club quiz with 28 teams
Suppose a hockey club holds its big quiz in the village hall to pay for new goals. It offers 28 Team of 4 tickets shown at €20 and 12 Solo player tickets at €6: 40 tickets for 124 people in the room. Captains pay at the door in cash, and the club’s treasurer counts the tin with a second person at the end. One phone scans at the entrance. Forty tickets exceed the ten of the Free plan, so the club takes Essential at €19 a month excluding VAT, which covers 150 tickets a month. Since tickets are per team, even a full hall stays far from that limit.
Who collects the ticket price?
You do. MPass does not collect the ticket price and does not check payment: the ticket shows the amount “to be paid to the organiser”. Your guests pay you as they always have, on the door, in cash, by bank transfer or on your card reader. In return there is no commission and no per-ticket fee, and the money goes straight to you. If you need online payment at the time of booking, a ticketing platform with payments will suit you better.
What it costs
Free: 10 tickets a month, 1 active event, scanning on 1 phone. Essential (€19 a month excluding VAT): 150 tickets a month, 3 active events, 2 phones. Frequently asked questions
Our teams are four to six players. How do we price that?
Create a type for each size, for example Team of 4 and Team of 6, each with its price and a number of tables, or charge per player at the door and use the ticket only to hold the table. One booking gives one ticket either way, so the captain books once and brings the team.
Can each player have their own ticket instead?
Yes. Offer a per-player type and ask every member of the team to book, which gives you an exact head count for the chairs and the catering. It takes four bookings per team instead of one, and uses four tickets from your monthly total, so most quiz organisers prefer the team ticket.
Does MPass keep the scores or run the raffle?
No. Scoring, the leaderboard on the wall, the raffle and the drinks are yours to run. MPass handles the booking of tables and the scan at the door. It does not handle the entry money either: that goes straight from the captains to your club, with no commission and no fee per ticket.
Do guests need to install an app?
No. The ticket opens from a link and goes into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on the phone.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. The trial button shows you an MPass pass on your own phone in a minute, with no sign-up. To create an event and share its link, you then open a free account: 10 tickets a month are included.
And the membership card?
Organisations that run this kind of event often have members too. The same app creates their membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and an event can be reserved for members. All cards by activity.
