TicketingWorkshop and class

Workshop tickets with limited places per session, for a class, course or taster

A pottery workshop has eight wheels, not nine, and bookings arrive by text, by email and across the counter until somebody is counted twice. With MPass, workshop tickets are booked through one link with the exact number of places for the session, and every participant arrives with a QR code.

A place at the bench: what the workshop ticket shows

The ticket shows the workshop’s title, the date, the start time, the studio and your colours or a photo. Types are simple, for example Participant at €35 with six places and Member at €25 with two; when they are taken, no further booking is possible. You share the link in your newsletter or by message to regulars. The participant enters a name and an email or mobile number and saves the ticket to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The fee is paid to you, in the studio or by transfer: MPass takes no payment, does not check it and keeps no commission.

Example categories, prices and numbers of places: you change everything. The price is shown on the ticket for information; MPass does not collect it.

Three moments of your event

Announcing the session

You set the date and the number of benches or wheels, and publish. Regulars who follow you book within the hour; the places left tell you whether to announce a second date. Each session is an event of its own, with its own places.

The day before: materials

Clay, aprons, tools: you prepare for the number of tickets issued, not for a guess. If someone tells you they cannot come, offering the place to another person is for you to arrange, since MPass keeps no list of people waiting.

Arrival at the studio

You scan each ticket at the door with your own phone while the kettle boils. The ticket comes up on the participant’s lock screen at the time and place of the session, so nobody scrolls through old emails on the doorstep.

How it works: 3 steps

Create the event

Name, date, time, doors and venue. Choose the “Workshop and class” type, your colours or an image, then your ticket categories with a displayed price and a number of places.

Share the link

By WhatsApp, email, social media or on your website. Each person enters their name, picks a category and gets a ticket with a QR code straight away, to add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Scan at the door

Your team scans tickets with their own phones, with no hardware to buy. A ticket that has already been scanned is refused.

Example: a pottery workshop with 8 places

Take a potter who runs one Saturday workshop a month in a shared studio with eight wheels. She opens six Participant places shown at €35 and two Member places at €25. Participants pay on arrival, in cash or on her card reader, and she notes it in her own book. One phone scans, hers. Eight tickets a month and one active event fit the Free plan, which allows ten tickets a month and costs nothing. If she adds a second session in the same month, 16 tickets take her past ten: Essential at €19 a month excluding VAT then covers 150 tickets a month and three active events.

Who collects the ticket price?

You do. MPass does not collect the ticket price and does not check payment: the ticket shows the amount “to be paid to the organiser”. Your guests pay you as they always have, on the door, in cash, by bank transfer or on your card reader. In return there is no commission and no per-ticket fee, and the money goes straight to you. If you need online payment at the time of booking, a ticketing platform with payments will suit you better.

What it costs

Free: 10 tickets a month, 1 active event, scanning on 1 phone. Essential (€19 a month excluding VAT): 150 tickets a month, 3 active events, 2 phones. Frequently asked questions

Can I ask for a deposit to hold the place?

You can, but outside MPass. It has no online payment and does not know whether a participant has paid. Many tutors ask for a transfer within a few days of booking and say so in the announcement. If the deposit does not arrive, what happens to the place is your decision and your message to send.

Someone cancels the day before. Does the place reopen?

MPass has no waiting list and passes nothing on automatically. You know your regulars: contact the next interested person yourself and add them by hand with a name and an email or mobile number. Whether the fee goes back to the person who cancelled is between you and them, as no money passes through MPass.

I teach alone. Can I scan and teach at the same time?

Yes. On the Free plan one phone scans, and for eight or ten participants that is enough: you scan as people arrive, which takes a few seconds each, then put the phone away. Nothing is installed in the studio and there is no reader to buy. On Essential a second phone can scan if a helper welcomes people.

Do guests need to install an app?

No. The ticket opens from a link and goes into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on the phone.

Can I try it without an account?

Yes. The trial button shows you an MPass pass on your own phone in a minute, with no sign-up. To create an event and share its link, you then open a free account: 10 tickets a month are included.

And the membership card?

Organisations that run this kind of event often have members too. The same app creates their membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and an event can be reserved for members. All cards by activity.
