Tickets for a small festival: day and weekend tickets for up to 300 festival-goers

A local festival run by volunteers has a field, a stage and a budget in which every euro of ticket fees is a euro less for the bands. MPass issues tickets for a small festival through one link and scans them at the gate, with no commission and with a firm limit of 300 tickets a month.

Day tickets, weekend tickets and what they show

The ticket shows the festival’s name, the date, the time the gates open, the site and your poster artwork. You define the types, for example Day ticket at €18 and Weekend ticket at €30, each with a number of places. The link goes on the festival page and under every band announcement; festival-goers give a name and an email or mobile number and keep the ticket in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. MPass does not collect ticket money or check that it was paid: the ticket says the price is paid to the organiser, so your gate takes cash or cards.

Example categories, prices and numbers of places: you change everything. The price is shown on the ticket for information; MPass does not collect it.

Three moments of your event

Line-up announcement

Every band you announce shares the link with its own followers. Places left per type show whether weekend tickets or day tickets are going first, which is useful when you decide how many toilets to hire and how many volunteers to put on the gate.

Friday: building the site

While the stage goes up, you add the crew, the bands and their guests by hand so that everyone on site holds a ticket. The gate team has nothing to install: they use their own phones and try a scan on a volunteer’s ticket.

Gates open, wristbands on

Up to five phones scan at the gate on Pro. A ticket is accepted once, and that includes a weekend ticket on the second day. The usual answer is to scan it on first arrival and put on a wristband of your own for the rest of the weekend.

How it works: 3 steps

Create the event

Name, date, time, doors and venue. Choose the “Small festival” type, your colours or an image, then your ticket categories with a displayed price and a number of places.

Share the link

By WhatsApp, email, social media or on your website. Each person enters their name, picks a category and gets a ticket with a QR code straight away, to add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Scan at the door

Your team scans tickets with their own phones, with no hardware to buy. A ticket that has already been scanned is refused.

Example: a two-day festival with 280 tickets

Picture a youth club’s summer festival on a field at the edge of the village: two days, local bands. It opens 180 Day tickets shown at €18 and 100 Weekend tickets at €30, which makes 280. Festival-goers pay at the gate, in cash or on the club’s card reader, and the treasurer empties the till every two hours. Four phones scan at the entrance. That requires Pro at €49 a month excluding VAT, with its 300 tickets a month and five scanning phones. If your festival draws 600 or 2,000 people, MPass is not built for it today: write to hello@mpass.be before you decide.

Who collects the ticket price?

You do. MPass does not collect the ticket price and does not check payment: the ticket shows the amount “to be paid to the organiser”. Your guests pay you as they always have, on the door, in cash, by bank transfer or on your card reader. In return there is no commission and no per-ticket fee, and the money goes straight to you. If you need online payment at the time of booking, a ticketing platform with payments will suit you better.

Frequently asked questions

We expect more than 300 people. Can we still use MPass?

Not for everyone. The largest plan covers 300 tickets a month, and MPass says so plainly rather than let you find out at the gate. Some festivals use it for a limited part only, such as crew, artists and guests, and keep another system for the public. Tell us about your case at hello@mpass.be.

Does MPass print wristbands or handle drinks tokens?

No. MPass creates digital tickets and scans them. Wristbands, paper tickets, drinks tokens and the bar are not part of it, and neither is a cashless payment system. You buy and hand out your own wristbands, and the bar keeps the token system it already knows.

Can under-12s come in free with a parent?

Create a free type, for example Child, with its own number of places, and the parent books it alongside their own ticket. Bear in mind that every free ticket counts towards the monthly total, and that MPass does not check anyone’s age: the gate decides whether a child may use that ticket.

Do guests need to install an app?

No. The ticket opens from a link and goes into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on the phone.

Can I try it without an account?

Yes. The trial button shows you an MPass pass on your own phone in a minute, with no sign-up. To create an event and share its link, you then open a free account: 10 tickets a month are included.

And the membership card?

Organisations that run this kind of event often have members too. The same app creates their membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and an event can be reserved for members. All cards by activity.
