Open day tickets: free registration by session for a school, club or academy
An open day is free, which makes it hard to plan: forty families at 10 am, nobody at noon, and guides who do not know how many groups to expect. With MPass, visitors take free open day tickets by link, session by session, and the welcome desk scans a QR code as they arrive.

A free ticket that says which session
The ticket shows the name of the open day, the date, the opening time, the campus and your colours or logo. Each type has its own number of places, so types can serve as sessions, for example Visitor with 90 places and Guided tour 10 am with 25, all at €0. The link goes on your website and in the letter to local schools. A visitor enters a name and an email or mobile number, picks a session and adds the ticket to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. If a lunch is charged, it is paid to you: MPass takes no payment and no fee per ticket.
| Example category | Displayed price | Places |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor | Free | 300 |
| Guided tour 10 am | Free | 25 |
Example categories, prices and numbers of places: you change everything. The price is shown on the ticket for information; MPass does not collect it.
Three moments of your event
Publishing the date
Prospective students and their parents plan their Saturdays weeks ahead. The link lets them secure a guided tour at a set time, and the places left per session show you early whether to add a 2 pm tour or another guide.
The evening before: briefing the guides
You know how many tickets were taken for each tour, so you assign guides and rooms accordingly. Teachers, student ambassadors or club coaches are told the size of their group instead of discovering it in the entrance hall.
At the welcome desk
Two colleagues scan at the main entrance and point each family to the starting point of its tour. Visitors who come without a ticket are welcome too: they open the link on the spot, or you simply let them in if the count matters less than the welcome.
How it works: 3 steps
Create the event
Name, date, time, doors and venue. Choose the “Open day” type, your colours or an image, then your ticket categories with a displayed price and a number of places.
Share the link
By WhatsApp, email, social media or on your website. Each person enters their name, picks a category and gets a ticket with a QR code straight away, to add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Scan at the door
Your team scans tickets with their own phones, with no hardware to buy. A ticket that has already been scanned is refused.
Example: an open day with 140 registered visitors
Consider a music academy opening its doors on a Saturday. It offers 90 free Visitor tickets for a walk round at any time, plus two guided tours of 25 places, at 10 am and 2 pm: 140 tickets, all at €0. There is no money to collect. Two phones scan at the welcome desk, and on Friday evening the director looks at the places taken per tour to assign the guides. With 140 tickets the academy fits Essential at €19 a month excluding VAT, which covers 150 tickets a month. A campus expecting 800 visitors should ticket the guided tours only, or look for another tool.
Who collects the ticket price?
You do. MPass does not collect the ticket price and does not check payment: the ticket shows the amount “to be paid to the organiser”. Your guests pay you as they always have, on the door, in cash, by bank transfer or on your card reader. In return there is no commission and no per-ticket fee, and the money goes straight to you. If you need online payment at the time of booking, a ticketing platform with payments will suit you better.
What it costs
Free: 10 tickets a month, 1 active event, scanning on 1 phone. Essential (€19 a month excluding VAT): 150 tickets a month, 3 active events, 2 phones. Pro (€49 a month excluding VAT): 300 tickets a month, unlimited events, 5 phones, guest lists and tickets with no MPass mention. No commitment, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans with no credit card. More than 300 tickets a month? Write to us before you start.
Frequently asked questions
A family of four comes together. Four tickets?
If you want an exact head count, yes: one booking gives one ticket, so the parent fills in the form once per person. Many schools ask for one ticket per family instead and say so beside the link. Set the places per tour with that rule in mind, so a tour of 25 tickets does not become 80 people.
Can we contact the visitors afterwards with enrolment information?
MPass does not send promotional or follow-up emails. Visitors give a name and an email or mobile number to receive their ticket, and that data is hosted in the EU in line with the GDPR. If you plan to write to families after the day, ask for their agreement through your own form or at the welcome desk.
Does a visitor need both a tour ticket and a visitor ticket?
No: say on your page that a tour ticket also gives access to the open day. Each type has its own number of places, so someone booking twice would use two places. If a visitor takes a second ticket by mistake, it simply remains unused at the end of the day.
Do guests need to install an app?
No. The ticket opens from a link and goes into Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Wallet (Android), which are already on the phone.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. The trial button shows you an MPass pass on your own phone in a minute, with no sign-up. To create an event and share its link, you then open a free account: 10 tickets a month are included.
And the membership card?
Organisations that run this kind of event often have members too. The same app creates their membership card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and an event can be reserved for members. All cards by activity.
